100 Years since WW1 began

On Tuesday it was 100 years since WW1 began. We talked about war and war heroes. Harry shared some information about his Great, Great Grandad who was in the bomb disposal unit in the war. He served in both WW1 and WW2. He was trying to disarm a bomb by pulling the fuses and the bomb exploded. Great, Great Grandad was injured and he lost his arm. There was no pain medication for him and on the way to the hospital the sang war songs to keep his mind off the pain. Unfortunately they could not save has arm and he had to have an artificial arm. Harry showed us how he wore the artificial arm. He had to learn how to do every day things like tying his shoe laces again. Thanks for sharing this story with us Harry. Your Great, Great Grandad was certainly a hero.
